BIO
Darnell’s performance career has been recognized by audiences and critics alike for its depth and versatility. He is currently George Washington in HAMILTON on the International Tour.
In March 2023, he was inducted into the Bakersfield City School District Hall of Fame, and recognized by California and National leaders for his career successes and community engagement throughout the U.S. and abroad. Darnell has also received numerous accolades for his work, including winner of the Berkshire Theatre Critics Award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Musical and an Independent Reviewers of New England (IRNE) nomination for Best Actor.
Select credits include: The Color Purple revival 1st National Broadway Tour (Adam and u/s Mister), Ragtime (Coalhouse), Next to Normal (Dr. Fine/Dr. Madden), and I Dream (MLK Jr.). In addition to his theatrical engagements, Darnell is a featured solo artist on Bandai Namco’s Tekken 7, which has sold over 10 million copies worldwide since its release. Moreover, he has collaborated with Grammy© and Emmy award-winning artists in the studio and on the concert stage.

He started as a standby when he joined the 'Hamilton Universe' in 2018. In Puerto Rico, Darnell Abraham debuted as George Washington for a limited historic run, with Lin-Manuel Miranda reprising his role as Alexander Hamilton. As excited as he was, Abraham became full-time when he took over the role a few months later and has been doing it ever since.

The show is, as Miranda himself put it, 'America then, as told by America now. From duels between founding fathers to his personal affairs, this national tour gave Idaho audiences a chance to see it all.

Their 2021 season opened on Wednesday in the newly renovated SAFE Credit Union Performing Arts Center with the most revered piece of theatre in recent memory-Hamilton. Patrons were treated to a beautifully redesigned venue that includes updated sound and seating. Broadway World was able to experience the much-anticipated opening and it was just as magical as a post-pandemic return should be!
