After a tremendous performance with the InterHarmony Festival Orchestra last year, pianist SALEEM ASHKAR will enter the chamber music scene during the InterHarmony International Music Festival in Session II in Italy and Session III in Sulzbach-Rosenberg, Bavaria, Germany. He will join Guy Braunstein (violin) and Misha Quint (cello) for Brahms and Shostakovich trios on July 23 in Acqui Terme, Piedmont, Italy. He will perform in an evening of Brahms Trios with Nikolaj Szeps-Znaider (violin) and Misha Quint (cello) on August 6. Ashkar will give a Piano Master Class in both sessions as a part Outstanding Masterclass Series at each festival. www.interharmony.com
Violinist ANDREY BARANOV'S appearance at IIMF cannot be a better inspiration for young talents attending the festival. Andrey Baranov was winner of the Queen Elisabeth Violin Competition 2012, Benjamin Britten and Henri Marteau International Violin Competitions, and a prizewinner of more than twenty other international competitions including Indianapolis, Seoul, Sendai, Liana Isakadze, David Oistrakh, Paganini (Moscow) international competitions. Barrie novel Peter and Wendy, with book by Pulitzer Prize finalist Rajiv Joseph (Playhouse's Guards at the Taj, Broadway's Bengal Tiger at the Baghdad Zoo); music by Tony, Emmy and Grammy Award winner Bill Sherman (music director for Sesame Street; orchestrator for In the Heights); lyrics by Obie Award winner Kirsten Childs (The Bubbly Black Girl Sheds Her Chameleon Skin) and Rajiv Joseph, direction by multiple Tony Award-winning producer Jeffrey Seller (Hamilton, Rent, Avenue Q, In the Heights), and co-choreographed by three-time Tony Award winner Andy Blankenbuehler (Hamilton, Bandstand) and Stephanie Klemons (In the Heights). Fly will run February 18 - March 29 in the Mandell Weiss Theatre.
