Review: THE OUTSIDERS at Providence Performing Arts Center
by Jay Pateakos - Apr 15, 2026

The Outsiders musical struck a seminal chord at the Providence Performing Arts Center last night, combining richly harmonic music with songs that speak to your very soul.  Believe the Hype!  This Tony Award winner sets itself apart from the pack early on and never looks back!
Review: THE OUTSIDERS: A NEW MUSICAL at Ohio Theatre
by Paul Batterson - Mar 18, 2026

There appeared to be a serious breach of theatre etiquette in the March 17 production of THE OUTSIDERS at Ohio Theatre (37 E. State Street in downtown Columbus).
Review: THE OUTSIDERS at Des Moines Performing Arts
by Jared Fessler - Mar 6, 2026

On February 27, 2026, I made the drive from Minneapolis down to the Des Moines Performing Arts Civic Center to catch the national tour of The Outsiders. I’d been hearing a lot of buzz about the show, and since it hasn’t made its way up to Minnesota yet, I figured it was worth the road trip to see it early. Turns out, it absolutely was.
Review: THE OUTSIDERS at Des Moines Performing Arts
by DC Felton - Feb 25, 2026

Watching Tony's every year, I always look forward to the performances and seeing what each show decides to showcase. In 2024, I was captivated by the performance of 'The Outsiders' and looked forward to seeing it live. What was that moment? I'll share more on that later, but after seeing the show in New York last spring, I am thrilled that Des Moines audiences will have the opportunity to see 'The Outsiders' through Sunday as part of the Willis Broadway Series at Des Moines Performing Arts.

Review: THE OUTSIDERS First National Tour Presented by Broadway in Chicago
by Rachel Weinberg - Feb 13, 2026

THE OUTSIDERS presents an original and vibrant stage adaptation of S.E. Hinton’s classic 1967 novel about the conflict between Tulsa teen gangs the Greasers and the Socs (short for socialites). The musical — and particularly director Danya Taymor’s inventive and visually dynamic staging — pulses with youthful energy, but the material doesn’t feel juvenile.
Review: THE OUTSIDERS at Belk Theater
by Perry Tannenbaum - Feb 9, 2026

Musically and dramatically, THE OUTSIDERS plays like a top-notch chamber version of WEST SIDE STORY: less-heated animosities between the gangs, no symphonic aspirations to the music, and no hormones - none of these Greaser dudes has a girl! But when the music, the jagged choreography, and the special effects get cranked up, the fanaticism of the pre-sold audience is irresistibly contagious.
Review: THE OUTSIDERS at Peace Center
by Elizabeth Cortes - Feb 4, 2026

The second most recent winner of the Tony Award for Best Musical is now the most recent one to tour at the Peace Center. The Outsiders, based on the English class classic by S.E. Hinton—and its attending ‘80s movie adaptation by Francis Ford Coppola—has been brought to engaging theatrical life by Adam Rapp, Justin Levine, and folk duo Jamestown Revival.
Review: THE OUTSIDERS at Orpheum Theatre Memphis
by AniKatrina Fageol - Jan 21, 2026

Memphis may be expecting a snowstorm but The Outsiders: A New Musical is heating things up at the Orpheum!
Review: THE OUTSIDERS at Fox Theatre, St. Louis
by Rob Levy - Jan 11, 2026

More of a drama with sung interludes than a full-blown musical, The Outsiders is an outstanding production. Relying on a minimalist stage, dark lighting, and choreography, the ensemble is given a wide berth to perform.
Review: A Literary Work Becomes a Phenomenon With THE OUTSIDERS: A NEW MUSICAL at the Straz Center
by Drew Eberhard - Jan 3, 2026

The year, 1967, the place, Tulsa, Oklahoma, and its central narrative came from the scrawlings of a 16-year-old named Susan Eloise Hinton, and the rest as we know it is solidified into literary history. History so much, that it has sparked a re-birth with a new generation and with the new stage adaptation of Hinton’s subliminal novel, a pandemonium and cultural phenomenon was created.

Based on S. E. Hinton’s 1967 novel of the same name as well as Francis Ford Coppola’s 1983 film adaptation. The Outsiders is set in Tulsa, Oklahoma in the 1960s. The story follows Ponyboy Curtis, his best friend Johnny Cade, and their Greaser family of ‘outsiders’ as they battle with their affluent rivals, the Socs. Review: THE OUTSIDERS at Bass Concert Hall
by Joni Lorraine - Oct 23, 2025

S.E. Hinton was just fifteen years old when she began her now-seminal novel The Outsiders. Inspired by her experiences growing up in Tulsa, Oklahoma, the book became a defining work of young adult literature and has been taught in middle schools across the country for decades.
