Love Letters is performed in both Russian and English.
Following a sold-out run at the American Theatre of Actors in New York City, Creative Atlas' bilingual production of Love Letters will begin its regional tour in Miami this March 2026.
Directed by and starring the award-winning Maria Atlas, performing with Lev Grzhonko, Love Letters is a transformative theatrical experience performed in both Russian and English. By weaving two languages into a single narrative, Atlas challenges traditional linguistic boundaries, proving that the "universal language" of the stage transcends borders.
Love Letters is a play by A. R. Gurney that was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize for Drama. The play centers on two characters, Melissa Gardner and Andrew Makepeace Ladd III. Using the epistolary form sometimes found in novels, they sit side by side at tables and read the notes, letters and cards - in which over nearly 50 years, they discuss their hopes and ambitions, dreams and disappointments, victories and defeats - that have passed between them throughout their separated lives.
"Miami is the perfect gateway for this production," says Atlas. "It is a city built on the intersection of cultures and languages. Love Letters is about the human connection that remains when you strip away the barriers of geography."
