The Dayton Performing Arts Alliance (DPAA) held its 2022-2023 Annual Board of Trustees Meeting in the Community Room of the Dayton Metro Library's Main branch in downtown Dayton on the afternoon of June 15, 2023. Board of Trustees President Ed Tomme and DPAA President & CEO Patrick Nugent presented the report to approximately 55 stakeholders.

GFour Productions, winners of 68 Drama Desk and 54 Tony Awards, are proudly bringing the international hit show Menopause The Musical to Dayton and will play the Victoria Theatre on Saturday, October 21, 2023, at 3 p.m.

What did our critic think of AIN'T TOO PROUD THE LIFE AND TIMES OF THE TEMPTATIONS at Schuster Center For The Performing Arts?

When going into a theatre to see a brand new musical, it is very difficult to know what exactly you are going to get.  Are you going to want to linger and hope there is more, or are you going to be hunting furiously for the exit?  I am happy to say that the world premier INDIGO now playing at the Human Race Theatre Company was the first of the two.  I love theatre but it isn’t often that I leave a show contemplating purchasing tickets for a return visit.  I still haven’t ruled it out.  

The National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) has awarded the Dayton Performing Arts Alliance (DPAA) an $18,000 grant through its Grants for Arts Project.

The Human Race Theatre Company finishes its 37th year with the launch of a world premiere musical, Indigo, with book by Kait Kerrigan and music and lyrics by Scott Evan Davis.

Clague Playhouse presents the comedy, Failure: A Love Story by Philip Dawkins to conclude their 95th season.  The play will run Friday, May 12 through Sunday, June 4, 2023 on Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 8pm and Sunday at 2pm.

What did our critic think of SLEUTH at LaComedia Dinner Theatre? SLEUTH, written by Anthony Shaffer, won the Tony Award for best play in 1971. Many may remember the movie adaptations, in 1972 and 2007, both of which incidentally starred Michael Caine. It begins with an evening at the home of Andrew Wyke as he plays host to his wife's lover, Milo Tindle. What follows are many twists and turns as Andrew and Milo try to outwit and outmaneuver each other to see who will come out on top. A few incidental characters round out the action and you will never know where the next turn will take you.

Wright State Dance audiences will have the opportunity to see student dancers shine in a variety of choreographic works from April 20-23 in Wright State’s Festival Playhouse.

Sunday School Teacher, Mrs. Oswald and her children (who are all from different husbands who mysteriously died) have an amateur Garage Band.

Up next at The Human Race Theatre Company: Barbecue, by Robert O’Hara, pairs America’s fascination for self-destruction with an unexpected twist in this hilarious and devastating comedy. Performances run from April 13 – 30, 2023 at the Loft Theatre.
