The American Theatre Guild is thrilled to present the Toledo engagement of Disney’s The Lion King as a part of the 22–23 BROADWAY IN TOLEDO SERIES. Toledo’s most eagerly awaited stage production ever will leap onto the Stranahan Theater stage from Wednesday, April 19 to Sunday, May 7. The press opening night is Thursday, April 20 at 7:30 p.m. 

Dayton Performing Arts Alliance continues its 2022-2023 Masterworks Series with a concert featuring three composers' musical reactions to war and their hopes for peace in Perspectives: War and Peace.

The Benjamin & Marian Schuster Performing Arts Center, presiding over the corner of Second and Main Streets in downtown Dayton, celebrated its 20th anniversary this week! It all started in 2003 with a black-tie gala event followed by a Community Open House bringing thousands of individuals from all over the Miami Valley through the César Pelli-designed venue.

Shaker Theatre Arts Department presents The Spongebob Musical by Tina Landeau based on the series by Stephen Hillenburg. This musical collaboration features songs from a variety of other artists including Jonathon Coulton, Sara Bareilles, John Legend, and Panic! At the Disco.

Dayton Performing Arts Alliance continues its 2022-2023 Masterworks Series with a concert featuring Tchaikovsky's “Polish” Symphony and pianist Spencer Myer who will perform Chopin's Piano Concerto No. 2 in F minor, February 24 and 25 at 7:30 p.m. at the Benjamin and Marian Schuster Performing Arts Center.

Dayton Performing Arts Alliance (DPAA) continues its celebration of the Ballet's illustrious legacy with an 85th Diamond Anniversary repertory program. Paying homage to its founders, Miss Josephine, and Miss Hermene Schwarz, the program reflects, Dayton Ballet Artistic Director Karen Russo Burke's mission to include more female choreographers in the Ballet's repertory.

Dayton Performing Arts Alliance presents an Opera Star Recital honoring prima donna Maria Callas Sunday, February 5 at 2:30 pm in the Schuster Center. Dayton native and University of Dayton alum, pianist Howard Watkins joins four young rising stars as they honor the centennial celebration of Maria Callas' birth.

Crescent Players will present the beloved musical 'Hello, Dolly!' at the James F. Dicke Auditorium in New Bremen, Ohio. The show will run from February 23rd to February 26th.

The winners have been announced for the 2022 BroadwayWorld Dayton Awards, honoring the best in regional productions, touring shows, and more which had their first performance between October 1, 2021 through September 30, 2022.

Dayton Performing Arts Alliance presents An Evening of Sondheim as part of the SuperPops Series Friday, January 20, and Saturday, January 21, at 7:30 pm in the Mead Theater of the Benjamin & Marian Schuster Performing Arts Center. Students from Wright State University's School of Fine and Performing Arts join the Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra under the direction of Conductor Patrick Reynolds to perform popular songs by music theatre legend Stephen Sondheim.

The Board of Directors for Dayton Contemporary Dance Company (DCDC) has hired an Interim Executive Director.  DCDC welcomes (back) Phyllis Brzozoska for this position.

Single tickets for the Toledo premiere of DEAR EVAN HANSEN will go on sale Monday, January 16 at 10 a.m. This production is part of the 22-23 BROADWAY IN TOLEDO SERIES and will take the Stranahan Theater stage for eight performances June 13–18, 2023.

The Dayton Performing Arts Alliance has announced that Neal Gittleman, Artistic Director and Conductor of the Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra, is on medical leave to recuperate from a surgical procedure. Associate Conductor Patrick Reynolds will conduct the orchestra throughout Gittleman's recovery. Gittleman is expected to return to the podium in early spring. 

Kickoff 2023 in style with the City of Powell's first Third Friday event of the year, January Jubilee, at Village Green Park on Friday, January 20. This free event will offer ice sculpting demonstrations and a bonfire. The Columbus Coffee Co. will be on site with coffee, hot cider, and hot chocolate for purchase.

A Soldier’s Play comes to The Human Race Theatre Company in February 2023. Written by Charles Fuller and directed by Kenny Leon, the production stars Norm Lewis.
