Idle Muse Theatre Company has announced the cast for its world premiere production of Upon This Shore: A Tale of Pericles and the Daughters of Tyre, adapted and directed by Artistic Director Evan Jackson+, now playing through April 3 at The Edge Off-Broadway Theater, 1133 W Catalpa Ave. The performance schedule for Upon This Shore… is Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 3 p.m.

Courtney Reed to Receive LEADING ARTIST AWARD

The Sarah Siddons Society is set to present its 2022 Leading Artist Award to Broadway star Courtney Reed, who is currently leading the North American tour of the Tony Award-winning musical, Moulin Rouge. Reed is a graduate of the Chicago College of Performing Arts at Roosevelt University, one of the four Chicago area theater schools which receives funds for scholarships from the Society.

HADESTOWN takes audiences on a wild and original ride into Hades's underworld. With music, lyrics, and book by Anaïs Mitchell, HADESTOWN combines the Greek myths of the ill-fated lovers Orpheus and Eurydice, along with that of Hades and Persephone, lord of the underworld and his beloved wife who spends half of each year on earth and half underground - thus causing the seasons. Mitchell's score and lyrics likewise draw on a variety of musical influences, incorporating New Orleans style jazz, folk, and pop Broadway sounds. The more jazz influenced numbers form the heart of HADESTOWN; they're the most distinctive, inventive, and lively.
