Amy Scherber, the owner of the acclaimed Amy's Bread bakery, has opened a new specialty shop featuring locally sourced delights that pair deliciously with her much loved crusty breads. One of the original vendors in the popular Chelsea Market, Amy's Bread has won notice from the New York Times, Bon Appétit and numerous other national publications.

The Pantry by Amy's Bread opened in the summer of 2015, continuing the company tradition of offering carefully selected handcrafted fine foods made with the freshest natural ingredients. Located next to the original Amy's Bread location in Hell's Kitchen, The Pantry is the place to go for local, artisanal items (like smoked salmon, pate, cheese, jams, pickles, pasta, and chocolate) to add a flavorful, exquisite touch to any meal. Specialty products from the New York-Vermont region include Bacon Mayo, Maple Smoked Cheddar and Brooklyn Butterscotch Caramel Sauce, along with a wide variety of other palate-pleasing finds.

Items were carefully selected by Amy and her team to complement the famous bread, which has kept Amy's Bread on the top-ten list of The Daily Meal's 75 Best Bakeries in America. Customers at The Pantry can also take home specialty sandwiches featuring some of the gourmet (take out) products offered at the store.

With her newest venture, owner and founder Amy Scherber continues her commitment to supporting small, unique, independently owned businesses in the heart of one of the world's most bustling cities. Working with purveyors who share her discerning taste and commitment to producing high quality foods with locally sourced ingredients, Scherber is proud to bring new distinctive tastes to the neighborhood she fondly calls home.

As her business grew from five employees in 1992 into a New York City institution, Scherber has held fast to her passion for serving only the freshest items carefully made by hand in an old-world style. Bakers use slow fermentation and traditional baking methods. Other Amy's Bread offerings like salads, breakfast pastries, and classic layer cakes, are made in the same way.

A Sampling of Products and Vendors at The Pantry: Anarchy in a Jar, Crown Maple, D'Artagnan, Empire Mayo, Mast Brothers, Charlito's Cocina, City Saucery, Nunu Chocolate, Sfoglini Pasta, Vermont Peanut Butter Co., Hampton Honey Co., Acme Smoked Salmon.
