History At PlayTM has garnered nationwide attention for their one-woman, living history performances, chronicling the lives of legendary women who changed society. A REVOLUTION OF HER OWN! , the inspirational story of America's first female soldier Deborah Sampson, has been performed over 1,000 times in cities across the country, receiving accolades from journalists, actors, and historians alike and earning the honor as an Official Selection of the United Solo Theatre Festival in New York City. Now, Deborah Sampson travels to the Massachusetts Historical Society on Wednesday, January 15th, 2020 from 5:30-7:00 pm to tell her incredible story (1154 Boylston Street, Boston, MA 02215).
Handel and Haydn Society Set to Mark 2,500 Performance with Emancipation Proclamation Concert

The Handel and Haydn Society and the Museum of African American History present the Emancipation Proclamation Concert. This special event will also mark the 2,500th performance by the Handel and Haydn Society in its history. Part of Boston's First Night celebration, the concert will take place at the historic Trinity Church in Copley Square Tuesday, December 31, 2019 at 1:00 pm with Scott Allen Jarrett conducting. The performance will include narration by poet Regie Gibson of passages from the Emancipation Proclamation. The concert is free and open to the public.

The Bostonian Society Partners with Brown Art Ink on THINK/WRITE/SPEAK - ACTIVISM IN ACTION

The Bostonian Society is joining forces with Brown Art Ink, a nomadic community incubator, on 'Think/Write/Speak - Activism in Action,' a series of public programs aiming to advance the tradition of public oration as a tool of civic action. Participants in these workshops will be led by local artists in exercises to develop original orations to highlight issues important to their own communities. These sessions will be free to the public. The first will take place from 3PM to 4:30PM on December 14 at the Boston Public Library's Commonwealth Salon, facilitated by staff from Brown Art Ink. Huntington Theatre Company has announced the casting for We All Fall Down, a new comedy about a family trying out tradition for the first time, written by Boston area playwright and Huntington Playwriting Fellow Lila Rose Kaplan. Directed by Obie Award winner and artistic director of Hartford Stage Melia Bensussen, We All Fall Down will begin performances at the Calderwood Pavilion at the BCA (527 Tremont Street, Boston) on Friday, January 10, 2020 and runs through Sunday, February 9, 2020.
