In addition to the very readable text, this work provides lengthy appendixes pertaining to musical works and performances, as well as a fine bibliography and index. The subject makes this book seem destined for academic libraries, or public libraries with strong collections in music, theater, and U.S. history, but its readability and quality make it worthy of interest to many general readers. This is highly recommended.
