My guess is a one-off production. At the moment, as far I know, we don't have any reason to suspect it will go to Broadway. But it's not out of the realm of possibility.
I don't need another Company from anyone, Tveit or Gyllenhaal. The OBC was the first Broadway show I ever saw, so it is very special to me, and it's a Sondheim breakthrough etc. But last decade just saturated me with Bobby-babys from the Kennedy Center revival, to John Doyle, to the New York Philharmonic concert version. I'll pass.
How about a new Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum? We haven't had one of those since the Nathan Lane version in the 1990's.
I'm sure it will be a one-off, and I hope so. As much as I love Aaron in general, I hate this casting.
This show is so special to so many people (and to the modern Broadway musical) that any revivals should be very cautiously executed, as with the splendid John Doyle production.
I would think that the recent Glass Menagerie debacle would be a cautionary tale to anyone thinking about the need for another revival of an oft-revived work.

I'd rather have another COMPANY than another SWEENEY-- talk about over-saturation...

A Forum revival was announced with a star (James Corden) and a theater (the Nederlander), but twas canceled when Corden got the Late Late Show.
Has anyone seen it? Just wondering. Think I saw an article pop up on Playbill about it, but haven't read much else about how this production is being received.
I saw it yesterday (drove up from NYC for the matinee) and really enjoyed it! Standouts were Ellen Harvey as Joanne and Nora Schell as Marta. Both amazing ladies with strong voices and personalities. Aaron Tveit doesn't really bring anything new to Bobby, but it doesn't really feel like he has to. Very handsome and affable, and does a good job pulling off the more dramatic and introspective moments. I Really felt the magic during "Someone is Waiting" and, of course, "Being Alive". Three-tier staging allowed for a lot of movement on a smaller set, and I have to mention the costumes, which were vibrant, fun, and "70s" without being dated or drab. I would very much recommend going if you get the chance!
Yeah, seeing it on September 1st, so excited to see him. I have never seen him in person in a show, so I'm glad people are enjoying the show. This has nothing to do with Broadway, and is just a regional theater production.
as good as the last revival was of this, it was a major flop. I doubt a Tveit lead revival of this would be much different.
A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.

Anyone feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think it has fallen through. As I understand it, the dates/specifics haven't been worked out yet, but it was always scheduled to happen later than now. Does that phrasing make sense? In other words, it's not in "delayed" territory yet. It's being done by Marianne Elliott's new theatre company, which will be having their premier production with Heisenberg in October.
if we need to get a Company revival, it has to be different. Tveit is great but somewhat boring in the role. Personally, if we get a revival I say we let Jenn Colella play Bobby - it's her dream role and it's unique.
I spent the weekend up in the Berkshires and got to see this show! It's the first time I ever watched a live production of COMPANY (I've seen the Esparza and NPH ones on youtube.) Oh and this is also the first time I ever watched a show outside of NYC.
First off, I really enjoyed this production! To me, Nora Schell (Marta) and Ellen Harvey (Joanne) were standouts. After the show, I had to rewatch the Esparza version of "Barcelona" since there were parts that were done in this production that I didn't recall in Esparza's.
Anyway, I don't think this show will go to Broadway but maybe off-bway? Either way, Tveit really did a great job and his tears during "Being Alive" brought me to tears as well. Kudos to the cast for the extension!
Saw it last evening and thoroughly enjoyed it. Not only Aaron, but the entire cast is excellent. Just extended another week. Definitely worth seeing if getting to the Berkshires is doable for you.
Too soon for a revival!! That being said, I'd love to see Aaron in the role and have also always pictured Josh Groban as a wonderful Bobby - even before he got into "Broadway."

He's always been "into" Broadway, it just happens that his career as a singer took off first.
For those saying Tveit brings nothing new to Bobby -- I've always thought that was the point of the character -- an everyman, as it were. You, me, the guy next door. I've always thought all the other characters were much more interesting/colorful.
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it?
These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.
I saw this last night and I definitely would recommend it. Aaron was ok, he did some weird things in being alive though. The rest of the cast was great. I wasn't a huge fan of Ladies who lunch though... I prefer the original version not the recent jazzy version. The actor who plays David was out and they didn't have an understudy so the actor who plays Paul filled in in the pot scene but the actress who plays April filled in other places. It was weird to see April in the scenes with the other couples.
I love this show but have to agree that it just doesn't work in the context of a 2017 America. Even as a period piece, it just wouldn't be able to evoke nearly the same feelings from its audience that the OBC was able to. I was thinking about it the other day, and I'm sure people will have their own vision etc. to revive it, but a production based in today's Bombay would work so goddamn well. The issues raised in the musical are the exact same ones a 2017 30 something Bobby living in India would face. The peer pressure, the confusion, etc.
