Jonathan Harvey's landmark play Beautiful Thing was captured live during its May 2013 run at the West End's Arts Theatre. Watch the Digital Theatre trailer for Beautiful Thing, with a voiceover by Hugh Bonneville (Downton Abbey, Twenty Twelve, Notting Hill). Check out the video!


Written by Jonathan Harvey when he was just 24, Beautiful Thing premiered at the Bush Theatre in 1993 prior to transferring to the the Donmar Warehouse, and then the Duke of York's Theatre.

Hugh Bonneville (credited as Richard Bonneville) played the role of Tony in Beautiful Thing on the Bush Theatre tour of the production, taking over the part from Philip Glenister. Hugh also played Tony at the Donmar Warehouse before going on to produce the show's West End transfer at the Duke of York's with Howard Panter.

Celebrating its twentieth anniversary year, the critically acclaimed revival Beautiful Thing also travelled to Liverpool Playhouse, West Yorkshire Playhouse, Leeds and the Theatre Royal, Brighton.

Directed by Nikolai Foster and with designs by Colin Richmond, the production stars SurAnne Jones, Zaraah Abrahams and Oliver Farnworth, with Jake Davies and Danny-Boy Hatchard as Jamie and Ste.
