According to Deadline, Bobby Cannavale is in talks to star in an upcoming and untitled rock 'n' roll series for HBO, produced by Martin Scorsese and Terence Winter and created alongside Rolling Stones leading man Mick Jagger. The show is aiming to begin filming its pilot episode in 2014.

The series will center on Richie, played by Cannavale, a drug-addicted record executive in 1977 NYC dealing with the genre clashes of punk, disco and hip-hop. The show is set at Paramount and is a window into the life of a big record label and the volatile music business.

Winter (Boardwalk Empire) will likely depart after the pilot, so the series will be looking for a fresh writing team. While developing the pilot for HBO, Scorsese's in-progress projects include The Wolf of Wall Street and Silence.

Cannavale recently appeared on Broadway in Roundabout's The Big Knife and Glengarry Glen Ross, as well as The Motherf**ker With the Hat and Mauritius. His off-Broadway credits include Trust, Hurlyburly, f-ing A and A Flea in Her Ear.

Cannavale has appeared in the TV series Nurse Jackie, Boardwalk Empire, Blue Bloods, Cold Case, Cupid, Will & Grace, Six Feet Under, Kingpin, Ally McBeal, 100 Centre Street, Third Watch and Trinity. His film credits include the upcoming Chef, Imagine and Blue Jasmine, as well as Lovelace, Parker, Movie 43, Roadie, Win Win, Weakness, The Other Guys, 100 Feet, The Promotion, The Take, Snakes on a Plane, Happy Endings, Shall We Dance, Washington Heights and more.
