Steve Carell

Steve Carell began his entertainment career performing with Chicago's Second City in 1991 after appearing in theater productions and commercials. He made his film debut in Curly Sue (1991) and joined the cast of The Dana Carvey Show (1996), where he also voiced Gary in The Ambiguously Gay Duo. He later appeared in television series including Come to Papa, Over the Top, Watching Ellie (2002–2003), and became a correspondent on The Daily Show (1999–2005).

Carell achieved mainstream success starring as Michael Scott in NBC's The Office (2005–2013), winning a Golden Globe Award and earning six consecutive Primetime Emmy Award nominations for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series. He also wrote the episodes "Casino Night" and "Survivor Man," winning a Writers Guild of America Award for "Casino Night." During this period, he starred in Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy (2004), The 40-Year-Old Virgin (2005), which he co-wrote with Judd Apatow, Bewitched (2005), Little Miss Sunshine (2006), Over the Hedge (2006), Evan Almighty (2007), Dan in Real Life (2007), Horton Hears a Who! (2008), Get Smart (2008), Date Night (2010), and voiced Gru in Despicable Me (2010), reprising the role in Despicable Me 2 (2013), Despicable Me 3 (2017), Despicable Me 4 (2024), Minions (2015), and Minions: The Rise of Gru (2022). He also founded Carousel Productions and launched its television division.

Carell transitioned into more dramatic roles with Foxcatcher (2014), earning Academy Award and Golden Globe nominations for Best Actor. He followed with Freeheld (2015), The Big Short (2015), which earned another Golden Globe nomination, Café Society (2016), Battle of the Sexes (2017), Last Flag Flying (2017), Beautiful Boy (2018), Vice (2018), and Welcome to Marwen (2018).

In 2019, Carell returned to television starring in Apple TV+'s The Morning Show, receiving a Primetime Emmy Award nomination for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series. He co-created, executive produced, wrote, and starred in the Netflix comedy Space Force (2020–2022), and also appeared in Irresistible (2020), The Patient (2022), Asteroid City (2023), and made his Broadway debut as the title character in Uncle Vanya (2024).
