BIO
Ramin Karimloo’s early UK career included a pantomime production of Aladdin in Chatham (early 2000s), where he played the title role, followed by the UK national tour of The Pirates of Penzance (2001) as a police officer and understudy for the Pirate King. He later played the Pirate King in The Pirates of Penzance in Bath (2002) and toured with Sunset Boulevard (2002) as Artie Green and Joe Gillis understudy.
He made his West End debut in Les Misérables (early 2000s), performing as Feuilly and understudying Marius and Enjolras before becoming full-time Enjolras in 2004. He later played Raoul (2003–2006) and served as standby Phantom in The Phantom of the Opera (2007–2009), later taking on the Phantom full-time in the West End (2007–2009) and in Love Never Dies (2010–2011). He also performed in concert versions of Les Misérables (Marius, 2004; Enjolras, 2010 anniversary concert) and Jesus Christ Superstar (2000s concert appearances), and appeared in Miss Saigon on UK tour (2005) as Christopher Scott.
Karimloo starred as Jean Valjean in Les Misérables concerts and productions, including the 2012 London revival and the Canadian production (2013). He made his Broadway debut in Les Misérables (2014–2015) in the role of Valjean. His other Broadway and major stage credits include Parade (2015), Murder Ballad (2016), Anastasia (2017) as Gleb Vaganov, Chess concerts (2018, 2020), Doctor Zhivago concerts (2019, 2023), Sunset Boulevard concerts (2021), and Funny Girl (2022–2023) as Nick Arnstein.
His screen credits include Vendetta (film, 2013) and television appearances in Life’s Too Short (2011), The Spa (2013–2014), Blue Bloods (2015), and Holby City (2019–2021). He has also reprised the Phantom role in multiple international concert productions and tours, including performances in Seoul, Australia, Japan, Italy, and Monaco (2018–2023).
In July 2024, he performed both Broadway and folk songs at Broadway by the Boardwalk, a free summer concert series by the Hudson River. In 2025, he appeared opposite Rachel Zegler in her solo concert, Rachel Zegler: Live at the London Palladium.
In April 2025, returned to Broadway as the Pirate King in Pirates! The Penzance Musical, a re-imagining of The Pirates of Penzance, at the Todd Haimes Theatre.
In July 2026, he will play the title role in a revival of Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street at the Birmingham Repertory Theatre.
