Defy Gravity in Broadway DEFY GRAVITY
Standing Room Only Productions
STEPHEN SCHWARTZ COMING TO HOUSTON Standing Room Only Productions is pleased to announce that Mr. Stephen Schwartz, Academy Award-winning and Tony-nominated composer, will be coming to Houston on Friday, August 1st, 2014 to join us for our production of the new revue based on his music, "Defy Gravity: A Stephen Schwartz Songbook." Mr. Schwartz will be attending the performance and participating in a question and answer period after the show. In a career spanning over four decades, Stephen Schwartz has written such hit musicals as Godspell, Pippin, and Wicked. He has also contributed lyrics for some of Hollywood's most successful films, including Pocahontas, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, The Prince of Egypt, and Enchanted. DEFY GRAVITY showcases Mr. Schwartz's most popular musicals, as well as some of his lesser-known works. The incredible evening of music includes classic Schwartz songs such as "Popular" from Wicked, "Day by Day" from Godspell, and "Colors of the Wind" from Pocahontas; and beautiful songs that will delight audiences such as "Spark of Creation" from Children of Eden and the breathtaking "Meadowlark" from The Baker's Wife. The public is invited to join us for this stellar evening of entertainment. "Defy Gravity: A Stephen Schwartz Songbook" is currently running at Obsidian Art Space, located at 3522 White Oak Drive in the heart of the Heights and the White Oak dining and entertainment district. Curtain on August 1st is at 8:00pm. To purchase tickets to "Defy Gravity," including the August 1st event with Mr. Schwartz, please visit or call 713-300-2358 for more information.

A Streetcar Named Desire in Broadway A STREETCAR NAMED DESIRE
Stage Door Inc.
The play reveals to the very depths the character of Blanche du Bois, a woman whose life has been undermined by her romantic illusions, which lead her to reject the realities of life with which she is faced. The pressure brought to bear upon her by her sister, with whom she goes to live in New Orleans, intensified by the earthy and extremely "normal" young husband, leads to a revelation of her tragic self-delusion and, in the end, to madness.
