Soundtrack to Disney's FROZEN Retains Top Spot on Billboard 200
According to Billboard.com, the soundtrack to Disney's hit movie "Frozen" continues its time at the top of the Billboard 200 for the ninth nonconsecutive week. The album is one week away from tying Disney's "The Lion King" for the longest run at No. 1 by an animated film soundtrack. "The Lion King" roared for 10 nonconsecutive weeks at No. 1 in 1994 and 1995.
The "Frozen" soundtrack has sold over 1.9 million copies and has been among the top three best-selling albums each week for the past 14 weeks. Behind "Frozen" on the latest Billboard 200 is Australian pop/rock band 5 Seconds of Summer, debuting at No. 2 with its EP "She Looks So Perfect." The set, released by Capitol Records, sold 143,000 copies, with downloads comprising 75% of its first-week sales.
At No. 3 on the new Billboard 200 is rock band Chevelle with "La Gargola," debuting with 45,000. It's the highest-charting effort for the act (though not its best sales week), surpassing the No. 6 debut and peak of 2009's "Sci-Fi Crimes."
