Julia Roberts On 'Thrilling' AUGUST: OSAGE COUNTY Experience
Academy Award-winning actress Julia Roberts shared her excitement over the stage-to-screen adaptation of Tracy Letts's Pulitzer Prize-winning drama AUGUST: OSAGE COUNTY at the red carpet premiere in LA earlier this week.
"It's thrilling!" Roberts said of the cast receiving a Best Ensemble Screen Actors Guild Award nomination, which was announced earlier in the day.
Also, Roberts related as to how she became involved with the project in the first place and whether or not Meryl Streep had already been cast, "Meryl was presented in the original proposition; she was part of it."
So, how did she respond to that prospect and its implications given the superstar's preeminent status? "Massive - massive," Roberts says.
Plus, Roberts adds, "I mean, Tracy Letts is a genius and it's one of these amazing scenes," she says of one of her big moments in the film.
"I was just glad that it was a trifecta - Julianne [Nicholson] and Meryl and I together; we really worked hard on it and people seem to respond to it," Roberts shares of the final product and their chemistry.
Her favorite part of the experience? "That we are all still friends and happy to see each other - because, really, that we are all still friends is a testament to how much we can endure being screamed at," Roberts amusingly provides.
