Well, your stomach will thank you in the long run. Planks are a surprisingly "easy to carry with you" exercise. This golden goody engages muscles in your back, your shoulders, gluteus (uh - that's the butt) and thighs. It will encourage you to maintain flexibility in your toes -- now put this favorite of mine onto the Fit Board -- and you have a whole new experience. Take it up a notch by doing a Three Point Plank on the Board. Here are a few tips to remember: Relax your shoulders and neck. This exercise is meant to stabilize your core, no need for tension in your neck.
- Think about holding your neck in a neutral position.
- Focus on pulling your stomach in tight against your spine.
- Keep your elbows directly under your shoulders
- Try to keep your butt down.
