Museum of the City of New York Offers Half-Price Admission This Weekend

The Museum of the City of New York will be offering a special $5 admission for the holiday weekend, January 19, 20, and 21. All of the Museum's fascinating exhibitions will be open to the public, including "The World of D.D. and Leslie Tillett," in its final weeks. The first retrospective of the husband-and-wife textile designers "The World of D.D. and Leslie Tillett" features their signature bold patterns and vibrant colors adored by Jacqueline Kennedy and Brooke Astor.

This weekend special docent-led tours will be offered during Museum hours at 2pm on Saturday, January 19 and Sunday, January 20. On Saturday, join guest curator Liz McEnaney for a gallery tour of "From Farm to City: Staten Island 1661-2012," examining the borough's continued transformation and development (the exhibition has just been extended to February 10). And from 12pm to 2pm on Sunday, January 20, families can explore the Museum with a fun-filled scavenger hunt "Secret Agent Architect: Decoding the Architectural Shapes of the Museum." Every child who completes the scavenger hunt will win a prize.

Other exhibition highlights include "Activist New York," "Designing Tomorrow: America's World's Fairs of the 1930s," "Currier and Ives and Other Winter Tales," and the multi-media film "Timescapes."

At the Museum of the City of New York, items in the Museum Shop include apparel, stationery, photographs, children's items, prints, and unique New York City mementos. Additionally, the Museum Shop now features the exclusive Tillett collection with stunning Tillett-interpreted home décor and fashions, in conjunction with the current exhibition.

Museum hours are 10 am to 6 pm; for more information, visit http://www.mcny.org.
