In honor of Women's History Month, the Driehaus Museum proudly presents special programs exploring the world of Louis Comfort Tiffany and Tiffany Studios through the eyes of the "designers in the Women's Glass Cutting Department." Author Susan Vreeland will share insights from her groundbreaking book, while the "Tiffany Girls" Studio Tour will immerse you in their world. The lineup celebrating Women's History Month follows:
Clara and Mr. Tiffany: A Historical Perspective (March 5 and 6): Discover the secrets of the "Tiffany Girls" with best-selling author Susan Vreeland. This illustrated talk will explore the world of the Women's Department at Tiffany Studios. Learn how the personalities behind her book designed and constructed leaded glass lamps. This one hour presentation will be followed by a Q & A and book signing with the author.
Clara and Mr. Tiffany Book Club Meeting (March 8): Grab your book and a seat next to the author for this eye-opening discussion of Susan Vreeland's popular book, Clara and Mr. Tiffany. Explore the historical facts and literary techniques used in the book. Susan Vreeland herself will lead the discussion and answer your questions.
"Tiffany Girls" Studio Tour (Saturdays and Sundays throughout March): In this highly interactive living history tour, participants are introduced to the Women's Glass Cutting Department, established by Tiffany in 1892. Discover the process of selecting and cutting glass for lamp and window designs, discuss the delicate balance between art and business, and explore the Museum's exhibition through the eyes of Tiffany's designers.
