Original Broadway Cast Member Erica Piccininni Joins JERSEY BOYS Film as 'Lorraine'; Kathrine Narducci to Play Valli's Mother
The Hollywood Reporter writes that Erica Piccininni, who starred in the original Broadway production of JERSEY BOYS, will reprise her role as 'Lorraine' in Clint Eastwood's upcoming film adaptation of the musical.
Read the original report here.
'Lorraine' is a reporter from Detroit who meets Frankie Valli for an interview, which leads to an affair.
Although many of the other confirmed movie cast members have also appeared in the show onstage, Piccininni is the first member from the original production of JERSEY BOYS on the Great White Way, which won four Tony Awards in 2006.
Piccininni has also appeared off-Broadway in THE FANTASTICKS. Her TV credits include appearances on The Good Wife, CSI: NY, Body of Proof, NCIS, The Closer, Numb3rs, Lie to Me and Medium.
TheWrap is also reporting that Kathrine Narducci (The Sopranos) will play Valli's mother, Mary Rinaldi, opposite Lou Volpe as his father, Anthony. Narducci's upcoming big screen projects include Zarra's Law and '79 Parts. Other than her long-running role as Charmaine Bucco in HBO's The Sopranos, her past film credits include A Bronx Tale, Miracle on 34th Street, Made in Brooklyn, Blue and most recently, To Redemption.
BWW also recently learned exclusively that Renee Marino, who currently plays 'Mary Delgado' in JERSEY BOYS on Broadway, will play the role in the upcoming big screen adaptation. Donnie Kehr will star as 'Norm Waxman', Joey Russo as 'Joe "Joey" Pesci', Jeremy Luke as 'Donnie', Christopher Walken as 'Angelo "Gyp" DeCarlo', Johnny Cannizzaro as 'Nick DeVito', and Mike Doyle as 'Bob Crewe'.
Erich Bergen has officially signed on to star as 'Bob Gaudio', and Boardwalk Empire's Vincent Piazza has been confirmed in the role of 'Tommy DeVito'. As BWW previously reported, Broadway's John Lloyd Young and Michael Lomenda are still under consideration to star in the movie musical. If cast, Young would play Frankie Valli and Lomenda would play Nick Massi.
The JERSEY BOYS film adaptation is written by John Logan and is currently slated to begin shooting this summer in Los Angeles.
JERSEY BOYS is the journey of how a group of blue-collar boys from the wrong side of the tracks became one of the biggest American pop music sensations of all time: Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons. They wrote their own songs, invented their own sounds and sold 175 million records worldwide - all before they were thirty.
JERSEY BOYS is the winner of the 2006 Best Musical Tony Award, the 2006 Grammy Award for Best Musical Show Album and the 2009 Olivier Award for Best New Musical. Directed on Broadway by two-time Tony Award winner Des McAnuff, JERSEY BOYS is written by Academy Award-winner Marshall Brickman and Rick Elice, with music by Bob Gaudio, lyrics by Bob Crewe and choreography by Sergio Trujillo. JERSEY BOYS just became the 16th longest-running show in Broadway history.
