Merrimack Repertory Theatre will be introducing its new Artistic Director Sean Daniels to the Boston theatre community at a reception on Monday, March 9. The reception will be held in lobby of Lyric Stage at 140 Clarendon St in Boston from 5:30 - 7:30 pm. The event is free and RSVP's can be submitted at https://www.facebook.com/events/415656115260049, but are not required.

Sean Daniels will be taking over for Charles Towers, who will step down after the conclusion of the 2014-15 Season after 14 years with the company. Daniels has started planning the 2015-16 Season and will be in Lowell full-time beginning in July. An accomplished director and creator of new work, he was most recently the Artist-At-Large at the Geva Theatre Center in Rochester, New York. He previously spent four years at the Tony Award-winning Actors Theatre of Louisville as the theater's Associate Artistic Director (where he directed 17 productions including 5 Humana Festivals). Daniels was also Associate Artistic Director/Resident Director of the California Shakespeare Theater and before that spent a decade as the Artistic Director and Co-Founder of Dad's Garage Theater Company in Atlanta.

Daniels was named "One of the top fifteen up & coming artists in the U.S., whose work will be transforming America's stages for decades to come." and "One Of 7 People Reshaping And Revitalizing The American Musical" by American Theatre Magazine. He has said that he is "inspired by the opportunity to get to work with the top notch artists living in the Boston area, and make sure MRT serves as an artistic home for them as well."
