Alan Cumming Calls Michelle Williams As Sally Bowles In CABARET 'An Eccentric Little Waif'
Tony Award-winning CABARET star Alan Cumming recreates his legendary performance as the Emcee in the new Broadway revival of the classic John Kander, Fred Ebb and Joe Masteroff musical, sharing his candid observations on co-star Michelle Williams and more as part of a new interview.
Offering his perspective on how precisely Michelle Williams is different than the many other leading ladies who have essayed the legendary role over the years, many alongside him onstage, Cumming shares, "She plays it like this eccentric little waif."
Additionally, Cumming says that Williams is the "most mysterious" of all of the women to play Sally thus far in his opinion, as well.
Furthermore, Cumming reflects on the original mounting of the Sam Mendes/Rob Marshall revival back in 1998, remembering, "I had just come to New York, this was the first show I'd ever done here, and the whole explosion was a little daunting."
