The award-winning teens of the Riverdale Rising Stars are proud to present Jonathan Larson's groundbreaking rock musical RENT: SCHOOL EDITION for eight performances only - April 5 - April 13, 2014. Based on Puccini's 'La Boheme', Jonathan Larson's Tony Award and Pulitzer Prize winning revolutionary rock opera ‘Rent' tells the story of one year in the life of eight friends living the Bohemian life struggling to express themselves through their art and 'measuring their lives in love.' Against the gritty backdrop of New York's East Village, these friends strive for success and acceptance while enduring the obstacles of poverty, illness and the AIDS epidemic.

New productions of Jonathan Larson's Tony Award and Pulitzer Prize-winning musical RENT are about to open in Manila, the San Francisco East Bay and New Jersey. And all these productions happen to feature Filipino and Filipino-American actors in their roster of young and hip cast members.

From the genius who created the smash hit, 'Rent,' comes 'tick, tick...BOOM!,' a vital American musical about a young artist on the verge in New York City. Westport Country Playhouse, Westport, Connecticut, will stage this lesser-known work by Jonathan Larson, June 23 through July 18. The director is Scott Schwartz, who helmed the original off-Broadway production of 'tick, tick... BOOM!,' winner of the Outer Critics Circle Award for outstanding musical.

The new national tour of RENT kicked off on January 6, 2009 in Cleveland, Ohio and runs through August 30, 2009 in Tokyo, Japan. RENT stars Anthony Rapp as Mark Cohen, Adam Pascal as Roger Davies, Justin Johnston as Angel Schunard, Nicolette Hart as Maureen Johnson, Lexi Lawson as Mimi Marquez, Michael McElroy as Tom Collins, Jacques C. Smith as Benjamin Coffin III and Haneefah Wood as Joanne Jefferson, with Karmine Alers, Toby Blackwell, Adam Halpin, Trisha Jeffrey, Telly Leung, Caren Lyn Manuel, Jed Resnick, Andy Senor, Yuka Takara and John Watson.

On Thursday, September 11th 2008 the cast of HAIRSPRAY had two very special guests: Olympic all-around gold medalist Nastia Liukin and Original and Final cast member of RENT, Gwen Stewart. BroadwayWorld.com's cameras were backstage to capture the moment.

Jaradoa Theater presents Serenade, a new musical, beginning Saturday, December 1 through December 15 at Teatro La Tea (107 Suffolk Street, between Delancey & Rivington). The book and lyrics for Serenade are by Rachel Sheinkin, winner of the 2005 Tony Award for Best Book of a Musical for The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee. She also co-authored Off-Broadway's Striking 12, which recently launched a nationwide tour. The kinetic score for Serenade, composed by Nils Olaf Dolven, mixes electronica, pop and classical elements.

A special sneak-peek screening of the film version of Rent followed by a Q&A session with cast members Jesse L. Martin, Adam Pascal, Anthony Rapp, Wilson Jermaine Heredia and Tracie Thoms was held at Symphony Space on Tuesday, November 22, 2005.

The 19th Annual Broadway Flea Market & Grand Auction was held on Sunday, September 25 in Shubert Alley. The Flea Market raised a grand total of $544,037 for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS.
