DACAMERA of Houston's 2019a?"20 season continues with A Woman's Life: The Diary of Virginia Woolf at Zilkha Hall, The Hobby Center for the Performing Arts on Saturday, November 9 at 7:30 p.m. Metropolitan Opera mezzo-soprano Jennifer Johnson Cano joins DACAMERA Artistic Director Sarah Rothenberg in this performance of two song cycles, composed 135 years apart, depicting radically different views of two artist-women's lives. The program juxtaposes Robert Schumann's Fraunliebe und Leben, a romantic vision of wife and mother; and Dominick Argento's From the Diary of Virginia Woolf, musings of a literary genius struggling to find her voice and place in the world.

Dallas Chamber Symphony, led by Artistic Director and Conductor Richard McKay, will launch its eighth season with a dynamic concert, 'Saint-Saëns Piano Concerto 2,' featuring works by three French composers. Celebrating its centenary this year, Maurice Ravel's (1875-1937) neo-baroque orchestral suite (1919), Le Tombeau de Couperin, will start the program. Renowned pianist Christopher Goodpasture will then solo with orchestra on Camille Saint-Saëns' (1835-1921) dramatic Piano Concerto No. 2 in G Minor (1868). Francis Poulenc's innovative and lively Sinfonietta (1947) concludes the program. Presented together, the works are demonstrative of the transformation of turn-of-the-twentieth century Parisian tastes from the conservativism of late-romantic Saint-Saëns, through the flexible, diplomatic and more modern Ravel, to the more free-spirited and avant-garde Poulenc.

The US-China Music Institute of the Bard College Conservatory of Music announces the second season of the China Now Music Festival,September 25-October 6. The festival's major concerts take place at Carnegie Hall in New York City and at Bing Concert Hall at Stanford University. The festival is dedicated to promoting an understanding and appreciation of music from contemporary China through an annual series of concerts and academic activities. Last year's inaugural season, titled Facing the Past, Looking to the Future, showcased new orchestral works by contemporary Chinese composers. The theme for 2019 is China and America a?' Unity in Music, in recognition of the 40th anniversary of the normalizing of diplomatic relations between the U.S. and China in 1979.

Turning 100 is a rare thing in this world and is definitely something to be celebrated - even if you're a piano. This September Tortoise Supper Club (TSC) owners Keene & Megan Addington will be hosting an epic celebration inspired by one very special musical instrument. While the River North restaurant is primarily known for its critically acclaimed food and outstanding hospitality, it's also a destination for after-dinner entertainment. On weekends, the Lounge at TSC is transformed into a classic cabaret, where Sinatra-style jazz music is performed live on a beautiful Grand Piano. The Steinway Concert Grand Piano that sits in TSC's Lounge has been in the Addington family since 1919 and, over the course of the past 100 years, become a piece of Chicago history. Keene's grandmother, Sarah Armour, received the impressive instrument for her 10th birthday and went on to become an accomplished musician as well as passionate supporter of Ravinia Festival, Lyric Opera and Chicago Symphony Orchestra. The Chicago-based family's philanthropic support of Ravinia Festival has resulted in a multi-generational friendship between the family and the organization: Welz Kauffman, President/CEO of Ravinia, actually played the family's Steinway Concert Grand Piano at the funeral of Mrs. Sarah Armour and Keene is a third-generation board member of Ravinia. In honor of the piano's 100th birthday, Tortoise Supper Club will be hosting a week-long celebration of music, food, drinks and Windy City history. In addition to six nights of dazzling musical performances from some of Chicago's most talented artists, guests will also enjoy a variety of dinner and drink specials that hearken back to 1919 (the year the TSC piano was made.) The popular duo KT Sullivan and Jeff Harnar bring a new night of music and a new tribute to Broadway composers to The Laurie Beechman Theatre.

The 2019 San Diego International Organ Festival comes to a grand finale with one of the most popular concerts of the season, the Spreckels Silent Movie Night on Saturday, August 31, 2019, at 7:30 p.m. at the Spreckels Organ Pavilion in Balboa Park.

The New York Philharmonic will present the US Stage Premiere of director / set and lighting designer Bengt Gomér's production of Schoenberg's Erwartung and Bartók's Bluebeard's Castle, conducted by Jaap van Zweden. Bluebeard's Castle will feature soprano Nina Stemme (New York Philharmonic debut), recipient of the 2018 Birgit Nilsson Prize, as Judith and baritone Johannes Martin Kränzle (debut) as Duke Bluebeard; Erwartung will feature mezzo-soprano Katarina Karnéus as A Woman (debut). The performances will take place Thursday, September 26, 2019, at 7:30 p.m.; Friday, September 27 at 8:00 p.m.; and Saturday, September 28 at 8:00 p.m.

Auditions for the Des Moines Community Playhouse's Celebration of the Century will be held at 6:30 P.M. on Monday, Aug. 26, 2018. All auditions are open to the public; no one is pre-cast. Those auditioning must bring a prepared solo; an accompanist will be provided as well as the ability to play a track from an iPhone or similar device

United Solo, the world's largest solo theatre festival, is bringing together over 130 shows from all over the world for its tenth anniversary. These shows will offer audiences intimate theatre experiences highlighting the talent, unique perspectives, and storytelling prowess of participating artists. Many promising shows have captured the public's imagination, have sold out their first performances at the Festival, and may now be offered additional performances. Fourteen bestselling shows are now sold out at United Solo. Three of these SOLD-OUT shows are part of THE BEST OF category, which recognizes the greatest artistic achievements of United Solo's first decade.

The event takes place Monday, September 9 at the Fairmont Royal York, during the 44th Toronto International Film Festival. To recognize their leadership in creating a union between social impact and cinema, the TIFF Tribute Gala will introduce the new TIFF Impact Award. Participant Media will receive the inaugural award, which will be accepted by Founder and Chairman Jeff Skoll and CEO David Linde, marking an incredible 15 years of social action through storytelling. The TIFF Tribute Gala will also include the new Mary Pickford Award, honouring a female emerging talent in the industry. The inaugural award is given this year in celebration of United Artists' 100th anniversary. The recipient of this award, as well as additional honourees for the TIFF Tribute Gala, will be announced in the coming weeks.
