BWW Review: A DOLL'S HOUSE: PART 2 at The Summit Playhouse

2019 marks the 101st season for veteran NJ community theatre Summit Playhouse. Perhaps it is fitting, then, that the first play on the bill to kick off their next century also comes with a legendary past. For, as the title A Doll's House: Part 2 suggests, there is a rich past leading up to the ideas and characters being explored on Summit's stage this November. Lucas Hnath's recent play is about Nora, that famed feminist initially introduced to us by Ibsen, and what happened to her and the Helmer family after she strode out the door back in 1879.

Playwrights Horizons (Artistic Director Tim Sanford, Managing Director Leslie Marcus) is, from now through Thursday, November 14, accepting entries for the Live for Five online lottery, giving out $5 tickets to the first preview of Lucas Hnath's The Thin Place, directed by Les Waters. Since his 'mesmerizing drama' (The New York Times) The Christians made its New York premiere at Playwrights Horizons in 2015, Hnath has received acclaim for two major Broadway productions (A Doll's House, Part 2 and Hillary and Clinton).

Today, the Evening Standard announces the 2019 shortlist for the 65th Evening Standard Theatre Awards in association with Michael Kors. Across nine award categories, the shortlist features the biggest names and emerging talents from the London stage over the last twelve months. Among the contenders are some strong commercial hits that have transferred or are about to move onto the West End or Broadway a?' including Betrayal, Death of a Salesman, Fiddler on the Roof, The Son and Sweat.
