The Nash Legacy Ensemble is holding auditions for two jazz combos for the 2019-20 academic year. Directed by two of the leading jazz musicians/educators in the Southwest - Mike Kocour (Director of Jazz Studies, Arizona State University) and Eric Rasmussen (Director of Instrumental Music, Scottsdale CC) - students will develop the art of small jazz ensemble improvisation, composition, and arranging in a highly supportive and collaborative manner.

Faced with the inability to perform live opera because of COVID, Opera San Jose opted to film an opera that could be made to fit California health regulations in its new Fred Heiman Digital Media Studio. General director Khori Dastoor chose Jake Heggie’s three-person chamber opera, Three Decembers. Since it’s an opera that needs a big star to play famous actress Madeline Mitchell, Dastoor engaged Susan Graham.

Phoenix Chorale CEO Jen Rogers has announced she will step down from her position in January 2021 after nearly 15 years working with the organization. Rogers has served as the Chorale’s administrative leader since 2015, when she stepped in as CEO while serving as the Vice President of Marketing & Communications. The Chorale’s Board of Directors has launched a plan to place an Interim CEO in advance of conducting a nationwide search for her successor in 2021.
