The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee opens YLT's 2010-11 Season on September 24. It's a hilarious but heart-felt Broadway musical which introduces six pre-teen misfits desperate to win the spelling bee of their lives. Portrayed are the uproarious and bittersweet comedies that unfold from the angst-ridden lives of the contestants and their hosts in this unique, charming, musical gem.
The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee is directed by YLT Artistic Director Eric Bradley Long, who was drawn to the show by William Finn and Rachel Sheinkin because of its wonderful music and humor. Spelling Bee is the winner of several Tony Awards including Best Score, Best Book and Best Musical.

The cast features local actors Kellie Duncan, Joe Durika, Beth Jacobs, Emily Jenkins, Will Jenkins, Erin Kelly, Casey McMillion, Tom O'Shea and Tyler Workman. Each night four audience members are chosen to appear onstage as guest contestants in this fast-moving, witty and wise, super-smart, crowd-pleasing show.
Performances are on September 24, 25, 30, October 1 and 2 at 7:30; and on September 26 and October 3 at 3 p.m. Tickets are $10 -22. More information and tickets are available by calling the box office at 717-854-5715, 11 - 6, Monday through Friday, or visiting www.ylt.org.
