Last night, Girl From The North Country hosted a special performance and gala to celebrate their third time opening on Broadway, as well as their seven Tony Award nominations, including “Best New Musical.” 

The documentary follows the re-opening of The Pubic Theatre with the production of “Merry Wives.' The new production brings the play into a modern retelling set in South Harlem's eclectic community of West African immigrants with an all-Black cast. The new film follows the journey to opening night during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Broadway cast of Girl From The North Country recently celebrated their 2022 Grammy nomination for Best Musical Theater Album and the holiday season with 1067LiteFM's Christine Nagy. The cast got together to spread some holiday cheer with an outdoor performance of 'Winter Wonderland.'

As BroadwayWorld previously reported, Girl From the North Country was among the nominees for the 2022 Grammy Award for Best Musical Theatre Album.

The upcoming world premiere of 'Soft Power' by David Henry Hwang (play and lyrics) and Jeanine Tesori (music and additional lyrics) will be produced by Center Theatre Group at the Ahmanson Theatre from May 3 through June 10, 2018. Directed by Leigh Silverman and choreographed by Sam Pinkleton, the opening of 'Soft Power' is set for May 16. Following its run at the Ahmanson, 'Soft Power' will play San Francisco's Curran from June 20 through July 8, 2018.
