Overture Center has revealed its 20th Anniversary 2024/25 season. Broadway at Overture welcomes back audience-favorite “Wicked,” also celebrating its 20th anniversary year, and includes the Wisconsin premieres of “& Juliet,” “Shucked” and “The Neil Diamond Musical: A Beautiful Noise.”

Soul Train, one of the longest running nationally syndicated variety shows, and its creator Don Cornelius are the subject of this Broadway bound musical backed by some heavy players. The anticipation was running high and the star-studded audience ready to boogie.  Unfortunately, the sensational dance numbers and wild costumes can’t save the train wreck of a book surprising provided by two-time Tony-nominated playwright Dominique Morisseau (Ain’t Too Proud- The Life and Times of the Temptations, The Detroit Project).

When Eleri Ward walked on stage of the City Winery Loft in a tie-dyed shirt and just her guitar, I thought if her goal was to recreate the intimate feel of an after-dinner jam on a sofa in her apartment, she succeeded. The Broadway musical Paradise Square had announced that it would be releasing an original Broadway cast recording this past summer. Amid the delayed release of the cast album, Paradise Square's composer Jason Howland released 13 tracks on his Instagram.

 The acclaimed National Yiddish Theatre Folksbiene production of Fiddler on the Roof in Yiddish opened its limited engagement last night at New World Stages. The production, a New York Times Critic’s Pick, plays through January 1, 2023. Check out opening night photos here!
