The Green Room 42 kicked off their 2020 of 'GR42 Sings' with a bang! In their introductory season they tackled composers such as Rodgers & Hammerstein, Andrew Lippa, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Alan Menken and Andrew Lloyd Webber, as well as celebrating Disney Villains and singing through In the Heights. They started off their 2nd season by singing through the music that has been a staple of musical theatre: The Music of Boublil & Schönberg. “GR42 Sings Boublil & Schönberg” was a night where we will fall back in love with the classics from Les Miserables and Miss Saigon, as well as listen to some lesser known work such as The Pirate Queen and Martin Guerre.
2020 Shine Theatre Arts Project to Present A TIME TO ROCK at The Green Room 42

On January 19th, 2020 Shine Theatre Arts Project will present A TIME TO ROCK featuring kids and teens from School of Rock, Broadway and National Tours. The show also includes several young performers with various Broadway and professional credits. The show was established in 2019 as a way for the closing cast of Broadway's School of Rock to come together and has taken on a life of its own. This event will be directed and produced by, Leorah Haberfield, Artistic Director and founder of Shine Theatre Arts Project with musical direction by, Ben Boecker.

The events will be presented back-to-back on Saturday Oct 26th 2019 at The West End Lounge in NYC (955 West End Ave) Audiences will enjoy a truly killer show at 7pm (#IMDEAD) before jumping on stage and sing for their life at the open mic immediately following (OPEN CASKET)

Where do children and the arts belong in conversations on global social development? Front and center, say UNICEF, Sing for Hope's HandaHarmony program, Juilliard, Nord Anglia Education, and youth participants from around the world. These leading organizations in conjunction with UN Member States, co-hosted a side event at the High Level Political Forum (HLPF) celebrating how young people are using art and advocacy to further the UN's Social Development Goals (SDGs). The event, titled “Child and Youth Art, Advocacy and Action to be Safe to Learn: A student presentation on SDGs 4 and 17,” brought together 100 students from around the world, showcasing how their creativity can be used to end violence in schools, and compelling Member States to include youth arts in their SDG efforts.
