BroadwayWorld Scotland Editor Natalie O'Donoghue rounds up the best theatre taking place in Scotland in 2026

Pitlochry Festival Theatre’s Artistic Director, Alan Cumming has announced his highly anticipated inaugural season of exciting programming for 2026, which will coincide with the 75th anniversary of the celebrated Scottish Highland Theatre.

The National Theatre of Scotland has announced its upcoming season for 2026, including three world premieres, five tours across Scotland, gig theatre, and much more.

Watch a video of the company of Cabaret at the Kit Kat Club taking their final bows on Broadway. The final performance was led by Marisha Wallace as Sally Bowles and David Merino as the Emcee.

The Tony Award-winning production of Cabaret at the Kit Kat Club ends its run on Broadway at the August Wilson Theatre on September 21, 2025 after 18 preview performances and 592 regular performances. The next show to play the August Wilson Theatre has not yet been announced.

Recasting a star who is above the title of a musical is a tricky endeavor. That balance of someone who artistically fulfills the role and someone who can sell enough tickets to be worthy of the above-the-title placement is a complex one, and it seems to becoming a more and more common trend recently for shows, particularly star-driven revivals, to not do a second casting, even if they are financially successful.

Production has commenced on the eight-episode third season of the HBO Original drama series House of the Dragon in the United Kingdom. Additionally, Tommy Flanagan and Dan Fogler have joined the series.
