Asolo Rep rings in the holiday season with We Need a Little Christmas, a holiday concert under the stars perfect for the whole family. We Need a Little Christmas will be performed at Asolo Rep's newly constructed Terrace Stage, an open-air venue located in front of its box office at the FSU Center for the Performing Arts. It previews December 17, opens December 18 and runs through January 3.
New York-SaraSolo co-founders Ann Morrison (Merrily We Roll Along, Lovemusik) and Blake Walton (Trevor's Fire, Leading Men) will present their first SaraSolo FallFest, celebrating four solo artists, as a virtual online streaming event over Thanksgiving week November 24 - 28.

Now in its 6th Season, SaraSolo has evolved and will take place as 3 festivals this year all focusing on the power of the solo performance. The festival invites actors who perform in a variety of styles, bringing a range of perspectives, and myriad ways of illuminating the human condition.
Composer and lyricist Stephen Sondheim changed the face of American musical theater forever. A pupil of Oscar Hammerstein (of the famed songwriting pair Rogers & Hammerstein), Sondheim worked on his first Broadway show - a little known musical called West Side Story - at the young age of 27. Over the next 50 years, Sondheim would win eight Tony Awards, eight Grammy Awards, a Pulitzer Prize, a Laurence Olivier Award, a 2015 Presidential Medal of Freedom, among many others. Some of his most popular works, including Into the Woods, Sweeney Todd, and Gypsy, have been adapted into feature films.

Asolo Repertory Theatre proudly kicks off its highly anticipated 2019-20 season with Rodgers and Hammerstein's beloved classic THE SOUND OF MUSIC. This Tony Award-winning musical sensation will be directed and choreographed by Josh Rhodes (Broadway: Bright Star, It Shoulda Been You, First Date, Rodgers + Hammerstein's Cinderella). Rhodes returns to Asolo Rep where he previously directed and choreographed the theatre's record-breaking smash hit production of Evita in 2017 and Guys and Dolls in 2016.
Theatre Odyssey has announced the casts for the four plays, all Florida premiers, in the Second Annual One-Act Play Festival. Selected from 100 plays submitted from throughout the United States, the plays will be produced at the Bradenton Kiwanis Theater at Manatee Performing Arts Center, October 31 through November 3. Asolo Rep's Education department proudly presents Kaleidoscope - Calicope: Things Are Not What They Seem on Monday, May 13 at 6pm in the Mertz Theatre. Venice Theatre is once again turning its Pinkerton Theatre into Pinky's Cabaret for the sixth annual Summer Cabaret Festival with 20 different productions featuring some of the best cabaret acts in the state of Florida.
