Baritone Trevor Martin was seen most recently as a Lesley Apprentice Artist in the 2016/17 season of Fort Worth Opera. In its world premiere performance, he created the baritone roles in Voir Dire in the 2017 Fort Worth Opera Festival, as well as performed the role of Moralès in Carmen.In the Fall of 2017, he will be creating the role of Mark Twain in the world premiere production of TESLA with SoBe Arts in Miami Beach, FL. In the Spring of 2018, he will make his Opera San Antonio debut as Schaunard in La bohème.
In the Spring of 2016, he was seen in the Fort Worth Opera Festival singing the roles of Fiorello and the Officer in Il barbiere di Siviglia, in addition to covering the title role. In the summer of 2016, Trevor made his Lyric Stage debut in their production of Anything Goes as well as making his Fort Worth Symphony debut as the soloist with a set of Fourth of July Concerts at the Fort Worth Botanic Gardens. He also joined the FWSO for their New Years Eve Celebration Concert. In the 2016/17 season, he also performed the roles of Patrick Dennis in Mame, Sir Sagramore in Camelot, Senator Jones in Of Thee I Sing and Earl in the workshop of the new musical Pure Country with Lyric Stage.
His voice is particularly highlighted in contemporary repertoire. In Fort Worth Opera‘s 2016 festival season, he covered the role of JFK in the world premiere of David T. Little’s opera JFK. He also covered the roles of Victor in Jeff Myers’ Burried Alive and the Producer in Patrick Soluri’s Embedded, both a part of the newly commissioned work The Poe Projects.
As a part of Fort Worth Opera‘s 2017 Frontiers, a new works initiative, Martin sang excerpts from Service Provider and La Lupa. In past years’ Frontiers performances he also sang excerpts from Legendary, Alice Invents a Little Game and Alice Always Wins, The Ratland, the role of Frederick in Sorrows of Frederick, The Hill and La Reina.
In 2016, Trevor made his Opera North debut playing the role of Ben in The Telephone as well as participating in preview concerts. Trevor made his Madison Opera debut in 2015 as Fiorello in Il barbiere di Siviglia. He also participated as an Apprentice Artist at Des Moines Metro Opera covering the roles of Jake Wallace, Bello, Sid and Happy in La fanciulla del West.
Trevor participated as an Emerging Artist at Virginia Opera in 2014/15, where he covered the role of Baron Douphol in La traviata, performed with the Educational Tour, as well as other concerts and performances.
He was also seen as a Young Artist at Seagle Music Colony in the roles of Arthur in Camelot, Elder McLean in Susannah and Bernardo in West Side Story. Other performance credits include Masetto in Opera in the Heights‘ production of Don Giovanni and in Kingwood Summer Opera’s production of La bohème as Marcello.
Trevor graduated with his Master of Music Degree in Vocal Performance from University of Houston’s Moores School of Music, where he studied under Joseph Evans. Highlights from the Moores Opera Center include Ford in Falstaff, Count Almaviva in Le nozze di Figaro, Paul in Daron Hagen’s Amelia, Chucho in Daniel Catán’s Salsipuedes, and Marullo in Rigoletto.
Trevor attended the Janiec Opera Company at the Brevard Music Center the summers of 2011 and 2012. Highlights from these summers include the roles of the Father in Hänsel und Gretel, Captain Corcoran in HMS Pinafore, and the Marquis and the Jailor in Dialogues of the Carmelites, as well as the covers of Belcore in L’elisir d’amore and Marcello in La bohème.
In the summers of 2009 and 2010, Trevor attended Opera in the Ozarks at Inspiration Point. Here he performed the roles of Escamillo in Carmen, Sid in Albert Herring, Masetto in Don Giovanni, Angelotti and the Jailor in Tosca, the Father in Hänsel and Gretel and Brétigny in Manon, as well as performing in opera scenes.
Trevor is a native of Fayetteville, GA and has received a Bachelor’s degree in Vocal Performance from Georgia Southern University studying with Allen Henderson and Sarah Hancock.
