After staging a delightful and clever version of Love's Labour's Lost and Much Ado About Nothing, set in the grounds of a Richmond school, he has turned to T.S. Eliot’s 1936 verse drama, Murder In The Cathedral, set in the church opposite the theatre. With a star turn from veteran actor David Suchet, this thought-provoking production is as captivating as it is atmospheric.

There has long been discussion that Shakespeare's Love's Labour's Lost and Much Ado About Nothing may have been intended to be connected in some way. Love's Labour's Lost  ends abruptly with no conclusion to the promises of rekindling love connections and Much Ado About Nothing never explains the incredibly fractious relationship between Benedick and Beatrice. Christopher Luscombe paired the two plays back in 2015 at the RSC and now director Tom Littler stitches both plays together in gorgeous al fresco productions, as the Orange Tree theatre continues its renovation.

After staging a charming version of Oliver Goldsmith's She Stoops to Conquer two years ago, the Orange Tree's Tom Littler brings us Richard Brinsley Sheridan’s 250-year-old comedy The Rivals. Like She Stoops to Conquer, Littler, along with associate Rosie Tricks, has almost rewritten the play, updating much of the language and making the setting the Wodehousian 1920s.
