BIO


Sheleah hails from Newark, NJ and has a dual BA in Theater Arts and Communications from The University of Pittsburgh.

She has performed with various troupes across NY, NJ, and PA. Previous credits include Romeo and Juliet, Lysistrata, Detroit ‘67, For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide..., Intimate Apparel, As You Like It, and the New York Times reviewed Off-Broadway premiere of Alma Baya.

She was a 2019 Broadwayworld "Best Actress in a Play" nominee for her work as Mayme in Intimate Apparel.

Romeo and Juliet 1921 is set in New York City in the golden age of flappers and gangsters, bootlegging, and Prohibition. Two households, both alike in dignity (if not pizazz!), compete to see whether liquor and lasciviousness or teetotaling and temperance will rule the (black and white) streets of uptown Verona. Oh, and there's a star-crossed romance too!

This February, rising indie Shakespeare company Match: Lit brings to its audience one of William Shakespeare's best-loved comedies in As You Like It. The production is directed by Laurel Andersen (Barefoot Shakespeare, Occupy Verona, Turn To Flesh Productions) and is produced by Match: Lit's Executive Artistic Director, Kristin Sgarro, who also serves as the production's composer and musical director. The production will open Thursday, February 13 and close Sunday, February 23.
