Sam Chanse

BIO

Playwright and screenwriter Sam Chanse is a two-time MacDowell Fellow and former New Dramatists resident playwright, her plays and other work include What you are now (Ensemble Studio Theatre/ Civilians), Trigger (Lark Venturous Fellowship), Monument, or Four Sisters (A Sloth Play) (Magic Theatre), Disturbance Specialist (NAATCO / Public Theater’s Out of Time), P.S. (Ars Nova), Lydia’s Funeral Video (Kaya Press), and Asian American Jesus. Her original musical, The Family Album, with composers MILCK and AG, premieres July 2026 at La Jolla Playhouse. In television, she wrote on The Good Doctor (ABC), and is a writer on Hulu’s new legal drama, Conviction. Born and raised in NYC, she is currently based in Los Angeles.
