MORGAN SMITH-They are a librettist, playwright, producer, and lyricist. Morgan also writes fiction while studying English at New York University. Their short fiction has been published in the US and internationally, winning awards in national contests like the Faulkner Literary Competition. They currently work at The Trans Lab, which has reinvigorated their desire to write diverse stories. They are an alumni of programs at Yale, Juilliard, and Bryn Mawr College. Morgan is the playwright of Ogygia and Oceanborn, both of which premiered Off- Broadway in 2019, making them the youngest playwright to do so. The internationally-acclaimed Pacific Chorale in Orange County, CA will be presenting a new work created by American opera composer Jake Heggie, and the versatile librettist Gene Scheer entitled 'THE RADIO HOUR'. The choral opera will be conducted by Pacific Chorale's Artistic Director, John Alexander, and stage-directed by James R. Taulli. The premiere work will be performed by the organization's chamber choir, The John Alexander Singers, accompanied by an 8-member ensemble of musicians who are members of Pacific Symphony. The performance is on Sunday, May 18 at 5:30 p.m. at the Renee and Henry Segerstrom Concert Hall in Costa Mesa, CA.
