In 'Don't Miss This: a Variety Show Spectacular,' eleven of New York's most dazzling variety artists will gather at The Slipper Room, 167 Orchard Street, Monday, May 9 for a variety show to celebrate publication of 'Don't Miss This: A Decade of Eccentric Performing Arts, 2010-2020,' a new, 284-page, hardcover photo book by Jim R. Moore.  

Visceral Abstractions, the Brooklyn-based absurdist circus arts and theater collective is to perform Notes From The Void — a work-in-progress show for three performances beginning tonight, Thursday 21 Oct at Liminal Space.

The season is a celebration of the revival of the most glorious and notorious of the 'girlie revues' in Coney Island history and features some of the very best of burlesque and variety performers from the New York scene, including The Maine Attraction, Fem Appeal, Gigi Bonbon, Pinkie Special, Bambi the Mermaid and Deity Delgado.

HOVEY BURGESS, the internationally celebrated juggler, clown and circus performer will join the cast of Matt Roper's downtown variety show WILFREDO A GO GO this coming Monday night, 3/9 at the Slipper Room. Burgess will appear as 'the Polar Bare', in an act comprising the art-forms of circus, burlesque and comedy alongside his performance partner, Lil' Miss Lixx.

ASHLEY BLAKER: GOY FRIENDLY tells the story of how Ashley's close friendship with a Muslim completely changed his life, and will have a limited engagement run Monday, February 3, 2020 a?' Sunday February 23, 2020 at SoHo Playhouse (15 Vandam Street).

Entertainers Frank Ferrante  (An Evening With Groucho) and Matt Roper (I'll Say She Is: The Lost Marx Brothers Musical)  number among the cast of Lakeshore Records release today of the studio album, a companion to the recently released graphic novel Giraffes on Horseback Salad.  Written by pop culture historian Josh Frank (Fool the World: An Oral History of The Pixies), the vividly illustrated book is based on a screenplay written in 1937 by famed Surrealist Salvador Dali as a potential movie for the Marx Brothers. 

Iconic performance artists and legendary burlesque acts are to join the British comedian Matt Roper - appearing under the guise of his outlandish alter-ego Wilfredo - this coming Saturday night 713 at Coney Island USA. Dirty Martini, Julie Atlas Muz and Bambi the Mermaid are all billed to perform in WIlfredo Comes To Coney, a one night only summer special presented in association with Burlesque at the Beach.

Following their two-night capacity success last week at the House of Yes with 'Sex Ed', the Visceral Abstractions collective and acclaimed absurdist theater company is to perform 'Afterglow' - a special edition of burlesque, circus, puppetry and comedy at Coney Island USA's Sideshow Theater tonight.

Back by popular demand with the addition of neo-burlesque legend Julie Atlas Muz, 'Sex Ed' peeks into the sometimes complicated, often absurd journey from conception to sexual 'maturity.'

Comedian, poet and author Rick Shapiro is to appear in his own show 'Restless' tonight at the Slipper Room in the Lower East Side. Shapiro, one of the most innovative and surreal comedic talents and a staple of the NYC and LA Underground comedy scene, began his career in the early 1980's performing stand-up at Catch A Rising Star on Broadway.

The Slipper Room, the celebrated variety theatre in Manhattan's Lower East Side, has announced the line-up for their Spring season, presenting a full calendar of regular weekly in-house productions in addition to guest shows, concerts and one-nighters. 

On Friday, March 22, Theater for the New City will present a special one-hour, acoustic-punk reading of Christopher Marlowe's classic 'Doctor Faustus' script, directed by Elizabeth Ruf-Maldonado. The reading follows the 8:00 PM production of 'Johannes Dokchtor Faust, a Petrifying Puppet Comedye' by Czechoslovak-American Marionette Theatre.
