Joy hails from Washington, DC, and is a 2010 graduate of The Professional Actor Training Program at UNC-Chapel Hill/PlayMakers Repertory Company.Joy’s notable theater credits include: Mary T. & Lizzy K (Arena Stage), Ruined (The Denver Center), Invisible Man (Studio Theater /Huntington Theater), Young Lady from Rwanda and Romeo & Juliet (PlayMakers Repertory), and workshops at the Public Theater and Playwrights Horizons.
In 2013, Joy received a Helen Hayes Award for Best Ensemble for her work in Invisible Man.
Joy's on-camera notables are the webseries The Broken Continent and PBS documentaries The Shakespeare Sessions and Tantalus: Behind The Mask.

Valerie Bertinelli filled in for Whoopi Goldberg, alongside View regulars Barbra Walters, Joy Behar, Sherri Sheperd and Elizabeth Hasselbeck.
