Irene Sharaff won several prestigious awards throughout her career. She received three Tony Awards for Best Costume Design for her work on the Broadway productions of Kiss Me, Kate in 1949, The King and I in 1952, and West Side Story in 1957. Additionally, she was nominated for Tony Awards for her costume designs in other shows, including Flower Drum Song in 1959 and The Great White Hope in 1968. Sharaff also earned an Academy Award for Best Costume Design for the 1961 film West Side Story, as well as nominations for her work in the films The King and I in 1956 and One-Eyed Jacks in 1961. She also won the Costume Designers Guild Award for Excellence in Costume Design in 1998. Throughout her extensive career, Sharaff's contributions to theater and film have left a lasting impact.
