Matt Cox is a playwright, actor, improviser, who's behind the popular shows KAPOW-I GOGO and PUFFS OR: SEVEN INCREASINGLY EVENTFUL YEARS AT A CERTAIN SCHOOL OF MAGIC & MAGIC. With PUFFS recently making it's debut at the Elektra Theatre after a lager than life run at the People's Improv Theatre, this Harry Potter parody puts audiences in the perspective of the most ragged on house: the Hufflepuffs.

When it first came out in 1985, RE-ANIMATOR quickly became a hit among horror fans and established a cult following both for the film and its mad scientist, Jeff Combs, who played Herbert West. Graham Skipper plays West in the musical and is just as fiendish as his film counterpart and funnier than ever in the broadly drawn, extremely eccentric role.

What a dazzling array of talent (pictured above)! Monday December 10 marked the 25th performance of An Evening of Classic Broadway at Rockwell Table and Stage. For those unfamiliar with this event that meets 5 or 6 times a year, it's a musical evening of Broadway tunes, both familar and lesser known, introduced by producers Dianne Fraser who also performs and accompanist Brad Ellis who serves as musical director and fun narrator par excellence. Joining them this time around are Domonique Paton, Ashley Fox Linton, Shannon Warne, Larry Poindexter, Michael Kastroff, Scoth Ellis Loring and the piece de resistance Queen of Los Angeles Cabaret Andrea Marcovicci. I say are instead of were because, due to popular demand, this particular show is having a second performance on Wednesday December 19 once again at Rockwell with most of the cast intact.

Randy Rainbow kicked off his first New England tour in Boston last night with two shows at the Roberts Studio Theatre at the Boston Center for the Arts. On his maiden trip to the Hub, Rainbow was greeted with a rousing ovation by a decidedly liberal audience primed to yuck it up at the expense of the 45th POTUS. The self-described internet sensation, famous for his viral satiric videos, lightly sang and quipped his way through a breezy hour-long first set, and graciously paused for a meet-and-greet with select guests between shows.

The cast includes Martin Jason Asprey (Mr. Frank Ford), Steven Barkhimer (George Page), Gregory Boover (Master Fenton), MaConnia Chesser (Meg Page), Jordan Cobb (Anne Page), Tobias Goodman (Pistol/Simple), Nigel Gore (Sir John Falstaff), Cloteal L. Horne (Mistress Quickly), Jennie M. Jadow (Alice Ford), Madeleine Rose Maggio (Robert Shallow), Bella Merlin (Sir Hugh Evans), and Mary Shalaby (Nym/Rugby). Many of whom we recently enjoyed in the Shakespeare & Company production of Twelfth Night. The troupe is outstanding. Steven Barhimer, Gregory Boover, MaConnia Chesser, Jordan Cobb, Jennie M. Jadow are so at-ease and comfortable in their roles and make the audience feel likewise. Tobias Goodman and Mary Shalaby are especially noteworthy and accomplished particularly given that they are the youngest in the ensemble but keep pace and level with both more seasoned and professional members of the cast. Madeleine Rose Maggio and Bella Merlin both take on roles of the opposite gender with confidence and convection and both make it work well. Cloteal L. Horne is sassy and soulful providing enough attitude to keep things real and some surprise vocals that are impressive as well. Nigel Gore and Martin Jason Asprey seem to have been born to do Shakespeare. Both have well-developed sense of comedic timing. Asprey's banter directly with the audience delights and earns spontaneous mid-scene applause multiple times.

In 2007, professor of physics Christopher Keating issued a challenge to the global warming denying community. With his Global Warming Skeptic Challenge, Keating offered to pay $10,000 of his own money to anyone that was able to prove, via the scientific method, that manmade global warming was not real. The challenge went viral in 2014 and the award was increased to $30,000 after Cenk Uygar and Jimmy Dore of The Young Turks pledged $10,000 each.

Any seasoned entertainment pro will tell you that the key to success on a stage is keeping your audience happy. It also helps to throw in a bevy of show-stopping songs, parodies, and raucous tongue-in-cheek laughter along the way. Those make up only a few of the ingredients offered in the ongoing Judy and Liza: Together Again show at Don't Tell Mama (now in its fourth year) starring Tommy Femia and Rick Skye.
