BWW TV Exclusive: Backstage Special - 6 of Theatre's Hottest Costume Designers Talk Trends, Fashion & More - PRESENTED BY BERGDORF GOODMAN

A very special edition of Backstage with Richard Ridge comes to you today, presented by Bergdorf Goodman. The panel features 6 of the theatre world'ss most celebrated and influential costume designers. In this special discussion, they explore current trends in costume design, as well as the impact design has on consumer fashions, and how contemporary fashion influences costume design.

This special panel was filmed at Eric Winterling Costumes Inc., who have been making costumes for shows on Broadway and beyond for more than 20 years. Featured on the panel are Jess Goldstein, William Ivey Long, Rita Ryack, Carrie Robbins, Gregg Barnes, and David Zinn.

Goldstein's selected New York credits include On the Town, Jersey Boys, Disney's Newsies, The Merchant Of Venice with Al Pacino (Tony nomination), Lincoln Center Theater's Henry IV with Kevin Kline (Tony nomination) and The Rivals (2005 Tony Award), Proof, Take Me Out, Love! Valour! Compassion!, How I Learned To Drive, Buried Child,Tintypes, The Most Happy Fella, The Mineola Twins (Lortel and Hewes Awards) and Jack O'Brien's Il Trittico for The Metropolitan Opera.

Long is a six-time Tony Award for Best Costume Design. Recent Broadway credits include: Cinderella, Cabaret, Bullets Over Broadway, and Chicago, now in its 18th year. Select credits include Grey Gardens, The Boy From Oz, Hairspray, The Producers, Music Man, Contact, Guys and Dolls, Crazy For You, Nine. He was inducted into the Theatre Hall of Fame in January 2006 and elected chairman of the American Theatre Wing in June 2012.

Ryack's recent credits include The Country House and Casa Valentina (Tony nom.). Other stage credits include: My One and Only (Tony nom.), The Human Comedy. Film (among many): Casino, Cape Fear, A Bronx Tale, Apollo 13, Ransom, How the Grinch Stole Christmas (Oscar nom.), A Beautiful Mind, Teeth, Wag the Dog, Hairspray, Rock of Ages. Regional: A.R.T., Williamstown. TV: "You Don't Know Jack" (Emmy nom.). Hollywood Bowl: Hair.

Robbins' work features 30+ Broadway shows, including A Class Act, Grease (original), Agnes of God,Yentl, Octette Bridge Club , Sweet Bird of Youth (Bacall), Frankenstein, Happy End (Streep), Boys of Winter, Cyrano (Langella), & Shadow Box (Ruehl). Her awards and nominations incl. 2012 recipient of the Irene Sharaff Lifetime Achievement Award presented by the Theatre Development Fund & the tdf/Costume Collection with the support of the Tobin Theatre Arts Fund.

Among Barnes' Broadway creditis are: Kinky Boots (2013 Tony® nomination), Follies (2012 Tony Award, Drama Desk, Henry Hewes Award),Elf, Legally Blonde (2007 Tony nomination), The Drowsy Chaperone (2006 Tony Award, Drama Desk Award), Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, Flower Drum Song (2002 Tony nomination), Side Show, Bye Bye Birdie.

Zinn's upcoming Broadway projects include Fun Home, The Real Thing, and the Last Ship. His past credits in costume design include: Rocky, Picnic, The Other Place, Seminar, Other Desert Cities, Bengal Tiger at the Baghdad Zoo, Good People, In the Next Room, A Tale of Two Cities, and Xanadu.
