Craig Allen Smith is an accomplished American stage actor whose work spans major regional theatres and North American touring productions. He is currently starring in the North American Tour of Mrs. Doubtfire, where he brings to life the dual role of Daniel Hillard / Euphegenia Doubtfire with humor, emotional depth, and the kind of fearless physicality that has earned him critical acclaim.
Reviewers have praised Craig’s performance as “a reinvention, not an imitation,” noting his “razor-sharp comedic timing,” “chameleon-like character work,” and his ability to sustain “a marathon of manic energy and heart” throughout the show. His quick-change transformations between Daniel and Doubtfire have been described as “theatrical wizardry” and “a masterclass in stagecraft.”
A versatile performer, Craig’s career also includes roles ranging from broad comedy to nuanced drama in productions across the U.S. and Canada. Favorite credits include Nathan Detroit (Guys & Dolls), Gary (Noises Off!), Jerry (The Full Monty), Rooster Hannigan (Annie), and Detective Sergeant Trotter (The Mousetrap). He has appeared at respected venues including The Dutch Apple, P.E.G., Big Arts Herb Strauss Theatre, and more.
Craig holds a B.A. in English from Nyack College, with a concentration in British Victorian Literature, a foundation that informs his deep respect for language, character, and storytelling. Continually expanding his craft, he combines vocal versatility, comedic instinct, and grounded emotional truth to create performances that resonate with audiences of all ages.
When not on stage, Craig is a devoted husband and father, and loves to build a Lego set! He extends deep gratitude to his family, mentors, colleagues, and the audiences who make the magic of live theatre possible.
