New American Musical Event, Letters to the President will hold invited industry presentations on December 7th and 8th, 2023, at Open Jar Studios.

This time of year, most know the most important people in the industry are sadly not anyone putting on a show, but rather the Tony nominators. Usually, this is the time that many selected nominators start dropping out, typically because of involvement in an eligible production or failure to see all eligible productions. This season, we’ve so far had very few recusals, so as of now there is a pretty full slate.

Following HalfPint at Night, SigSpace will feature, on November 13 from 5:30-6:30pm, a concert response to Quiara Alegría Hudes’ memoir My Broken Language from Bushwick Book Club—the theatrical adaptation of which is currently being performed in the Signature Center’s Romulus Linney Courtyard Theatre (through November 27).

Times Square Alliance has announced the second annual Songs for Our City songwriting competition, which will take place daily this June 1–5, 2021. New American musical in development Letters to the President has released a music video of “So Far to Go,” written by Ronvé O’Daniel and Jevares Myrick. The video is now streaming online as part of O’Daniel and Myrick’s newly launched Composer and Lyricist Artist Channel on Broadway on Demand.

The hardships COVID-19 have caused for songwriters and performers has prompted The Kurt Weill Foundation to provide financial support to participants chosen for the Lotte Lenya Competition Songbook, a new collection of sixteen contemporary theater songs by nineteen emerging writers.
