Offering a snappy spin for the holiday season, San Francisco Playhouse will stage a new look at the Broadway hit Guys and Dolls.

First look photos! San Francisco Playhouse concludes its 20th Anniversary Season with the hit Broadway musical A Chorus Line. In this groundbreaking work, twenty-four hopeful dancers undertake a grueling audition for eight coveted spots in the back-up chorus of an unnamed Broadway show.

Berkeley Playhouse has released production photos for Fun Home, running through April 2, 2023. Fun Home’s book and lyrics are by Lisa Kron, with music by Jeanine Tesori, and is based on the graphic novel by Alison Bechdel. Fun Home is directed by William Thomas Hodgson, assistant directed by Sam Jackson, and music directed by Michael Patrick Wiles. San Francisco’s 42nd Street Moon has announced that RAISE YOU UP!, the Company’s 2022 Annual Gala, will take place on Saturday, April 9, 2022 at the Gateway Theatre (215 Jackson Street, San Francisco, CA 94111). Guests can choose to attend either a 5:00 p.m. dinner followed by a 7:00 p.m. show, or an 8:30 p.m. show followed by an afterparty.

42nd Street Moon opens their 21-22 season with a tribute to one of the greatest songwriting teams in American musical theatre - Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II. Musical revues live and die on two factors: the choice of material and the talent of the presenters. This Tony-nominated revue, first presented on Broadway in 1993, includes lesser-known works (Pipe Dream, State Fair) alongside the duos biggies (Oklahoma, The King and I, South Pacific). The songs are a lovely mix of comedy and romance using the original vocal arrangements by Fred Wells. Director Cindy Goldfield has assembled a capable cast of vocalists to present this material, excelling in both solos, duets and company numbers.

A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC features a book by Hugh Wheeler, music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim, and is suggested by Ingmar Bergman's film Smiles of a Summer Night.

42nd Street Moon is concluding its online Moonbeams series on a rather deliciously demented high note with Don’t Touch That Dial: DC & Peter’s Glorious Romp through the Golden Age of TV Theme Songs. Just like the timeworn sitcoms that generated most of its songs, Don’t Touch That Dial wants nothing more than to entertain, packing in dozens of catchy tunes you maybe didn’t even know you knew in a fast-moving hourlong fantasia of fizzy humor and gimlet-eyed nostalgia. Although Moon’s remit is normally to revisit stage musicals, rather than television shows, this enterprise isn’t quite as far afield for them as you might imagine. It, too, comes wrapped in affectionate homage to times past.

Consisting of five very different and highly entertaining shows, the series will run from September 28th to November 26th, 2020. Highlights include Michael Patrick Gaffneya??s funny and touching The Oldest Living Cater Waiter, Moona??s popular Broadway Flipped evening where favorite Moon performers get the chance to sing songs from roles they would otherwise never get the chance to play, and a final show to kick off the holiday season, Home (literally) for the Holidays.
