Celebrating its 30th Anniversary, the pop culture phenomenon of FLASHDANCE is now live on stage!

With electrifying dance at its core, FLASHDANCE- THE MUSICAL tells the inspiring and unforgettable story of Alex Owens, a Pittsburgh steel mill welder by day and a bar dancer by night with dreams of one day becoming a professional performer. When romance with her steel mill boss threatens to complicate her ambitions, Alex learns the meaning of love and its power to fuel the pursuit of her dream.

FLASHDANCE-THE MUSICAL features a score that includes the biggest hit songs from the movie, including the Academy Award-winning title song "Flashdance- What a Feeling," "Maniac," "Gloria," "Manhunt," and "I Love Rock & Roll."

In addition to these hits, 16 brand new songs have been written for the musical with music by Robbie Roth and lyrics by Robert Cary and Robbie Roth.

FLASHDANCE-THE MUSICAL features a book by Tom Hedley (co-writer of the original screenplay), and Robert Cary with direction and choreography by Sergio Trujillo (Jersey Boys, Memphis).

The hit Chicago musical set against the backdrop of the Chicago Cubs 2016 championship season, MIRACLE, is announcing its final weeks, closing on Sunday, September 29. In its successful five month run, the musical was seen by over 30,000 people including Chicago Cubs players David Ross, Willson Contreras, Kerry Wood, Ryan Dempster and Ryne Sandberg, as well as numerous local celebrities including Jim Belushi, Allison Victoria of HGTV, Wayne Messmer, Tom Ricketts, Tom Dreesen and many more who lauded the production. Today, William Marovitz and Arny Granat, co-producers of the production, are thrilled to announce that MIRACLE has been nominated for a 2019 Equity Jeff Award in the a?oeNew Work- Musicala?? category. Now playing at the Royal George Theatre, 1641 North Halsted, MIRACLE is providing Chicago Cubs fans and theatregoers a final opportunity to relive the Chicago Cubs 2016 World Series win.

The Omaha Community Playhouse has announced that Stephen Santa will be joining the organization as the new artistic director beginning on November 1, 2021. Susan Baer Collins, former OCP associate artistic director, has been acting as interim artistic director since January. Collins will work with Santa during the transition.

The Palace Theater in Manchester is home to many well-known theater productions that entertain the diverse community in the city. One such show is 'Flashdance', which is running at the Palace until November 17th. From tasteful 80's fashion popping up through different costumes to classic songs from the decade, this production brings the best of the 80's (while still appealing to those of us who are perhaps less of a fan). Alongside the great music, this production also featured projection work, live video, and unique lighting to bring a tasteful diversity to a minimalistic set design.

The 1926 play, written by reporter and playwright Maurine Dallas Watkins based on actual criminals and crimes that she reported on, has become an icon in American culture. The 1996 Broadway revival of Kander & Ebb's Chicago holds the record as the longest-running American musical in Broadway history, and, in 2002, the film version won the Academy Award for Best Picture. The Classical Theatre of Harlem presents the second year of its holiday production, A Christmas Carol in Harlem, based on the timeless work by Charles Dickens. This year's production is directed by Carl Cofield based on an adaptation by Shawn René Graham with new choreography by Tiffany Rea-Fisher (Artistic Director of Elisa Monte Dance).This season, the show moves into a three-quarter thrust theater, offering audiences a more intimate theater experience and allowing them to share in the spirit of the show. Cofield has re-imagined large portions of the work to fit this new space and to build on the festive themes throughout the play while allowing the drama of Scrooge's past to unfold. This includes a new set, music pieces, projections, costumes and casting that establishes A Christmas Carol in Harlemas a modern addition to New York City's annual holiday offerings.
