by Student Blogger: Olivia Stevens - April 28, 2024
When I look back, I realize that the stages of my theatre-kid history can be divided into distinct “eras” based on the shows that I most listened to at the time and the other shows that I discovered through them. Today, I’m finally taking a walk down memory lane as I pinpoint each “era” of my life as a theatre kid, and how each one turned me into the theatre fan I am today.
Student Blog: My Summer Vision Board
by Student Blogger: Olivia Stevens - April 28, 2024
As we approach the final week of classes, I can only focus on one thing: summer. Though it’s still April, I’ve recently gravitated towards things that “feel” like summer. So, to get through this last week of class and the subsequent week of finals, I’ve decided to make a sort of “vision board” full of things that have made me most excited for the season, and things that I anticipate filling my summer with.

Review: MRS. DOUBTFIRE Is the Pleasant Surprise of the Season at Dr. Phillips Center
by Aaron Wallace - April 25, 2024
I was doubtful of Doubtfire. Musicals fashioned out of nonmusical comedy films are seldom stellar, and unlike so many of the patrons inside Dr. Phillips Center on opening night, I hadn’t grown up on 1993’s Mrs. Doubtfire movie, so I couldn’t count on nostalgia to pull me through. I figured I was in for a Tootsie Part Two.
Interview: Steve Landes of RAIN: A TRIBUTE TO THE BEATLES at Dr. Phillips Center on May 5
by Joseph Harrison - April 25, 2024
When the opening chords of a familiar Beatles tune drifts out of the doors of the Walt Disney Theater on May 5th, guests might just think they stepped back in time 50+ years to the iconic eras of Sgt. Pepper, Magical Mystery Tour and all your favorite hits. And if they come see RAIN - A Tribute to the Beatles presented by the Dr. Phillips Center, they might just succeed in that time travel. RAIN - A Tribute to the Beatles, a show that has been called 'the next best thing to seeing The Beatles,' boasts a repertoire of nearly 200 Beatles favorites, ranging from such beloved songs as 'I Want To Hold Your Hand' and 'Hey Jude' to classic hits including 'Revolution' and 'Come Together.'  Leading many of those familiar songs, in the iconic shoes of John Lennon is Steve Landes, and actor/singer/musician that has been performing Beatles-songs for most of his adult life and will be a part of the show when it arrives in Orlando. I had the privilege of speaking with Steve a number of years ago to learn a little more about his journey and our conversation still resonates today. Below is a re-sharing of our interview from 2009  (one of my first as a writer for BroadwayWorld!)

Review: CABARET at Titusville Playhouse
by Joseph Harrison - April 21, 2024
In times of turmoil, oppression, and uncertainty, how do people cope? How do they find joy, hope, and freedom when all seems hopeless? In the early 1930’s many of the citizens of Berlin found ways to escape the realities of life and the rise of the Nazi party by visiting one of the many cabarets in the city where they could leave their troubles at the door and partake in the debauchery of the latest avant garde entertainment. Today, however, in 2024, a visit to the Kit Kat Klub of CABARET, the latest offering from Titusville Playhouse, provides such an escape but with an important cautionary tale about the dangers of extremism and the real consequences of not taking them seriously.

Review: SEUSSICAL THE MUSICAL by Little Radical Theatrics
by Joseph Harrison - April 14, 2024
