The Palace Theatre Receives Grant Award

By: Dec. 08, 2011

The Palace Theatre has announced it is a recipient of a $14,000 grant award from the Samuel P. Hunt Foundation for a new lighting console. The Hunt Foundation, located in Manchester, NH, was created for general charitable purposes. The gift will be used to support the purchase and installation of a new lighting console that will operate all the stage lights for the Palace Theatre. The one that is operating now has outdated technology and limited functions. The new lighting board will provide the Palace stage with improved lighting quality and increased technical capabilities. The board will also eliminate malfunctions and ensure that the theatre will not have any interruptions of service due to equipment failure.

The Board of Trustees of the Palace Theatre Trust is grateful for the generosity and support of the Samuel P. Hunt Foundation, which has been a major supporter of the Palace Theatre for over a decade and has helped the Palace with a variety of projects designed to update and improve the facility. The Foundation’s commitment assists the Palace Theatre in maintaining a community-oriented center for the exploration and presentation of theatre, music, and dance.

Built in 1914, the Palace Theatre is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The Palace Theatre is a nonprofit performing arts center that hosts its own professional company, youth and teen program and presenting acts. It is committed to achieving its mission through preserving the historic facilities of the theatre, responding creatively to the cultural and entertainment needs of the community and governing in a fiscally responsible and strategic manner. The Palace Theatre’s Web site is www.palacetheatre.org.
